The Boston Celtics have signed guard Jrue Holiday to a four-year, $135 million contract extension, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
According to Wojnarowski, Holiday will decline his player option for the 2024-25 season in order to negotiate a long-term contract with Boston.
He will now be under contract until the 2027–28 season. As a result, Keith Smith of Spotrac estimates that Holiday will earn approximately $9 million less in the 2024-25 season.
According to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, the final year of his agreement is a player option.
Holiday, who made an All-Star appearance and was named to the All-Defensive First Team with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2023, joined the Celtics in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers this summer.
In his debut season in Boston, Holiday averaged 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists while shooting 48.1% from the field and 43.1% from behind the three-point line. Holiday is seventh in the NBA in three-point percentage.
Coach Joe Mazzulla challenged Holiday to lead the Celtics' defense, which is now ranked second in the NBA.
With an extension in hand, Holiday is now ready to assist the Celtics in their quest for Banner 18 after a historic regular season.
